Your watch’s crystal isn’t just the face of your watch, it’s the part that takes the most abuse on a day-to-day basis. Even with only occasional use, the crystal may end up scratched or cracked, making the whole watch unsightly or even unusable.
Depending on the material and severity of the scratches, we may be able to buff them out. Acrylic crystals, especially, are very susceptible to scratches and may collect a few even with only occasional, gentle use. Glass crystals are less likely to scratch, but they can still build up if you wear it every day.
If your crystal has a crack, or if it has shattered, it’s more than just a cosmetic issue. Glass could impede the turning of the hands, or small shards could make their way into the movement, either of which could cause lasting damage. By breaking the airtight seal around your watch, air and moisture are also able to get into the sensitive inner workings and could lead to rust or other water damage.
If your crystal has cracked or shattered, we highly recommend having your movement serviced when you replace your crystal to make sure that there isn’t any other damage or debris inside the case.
We keep hundreds of crystals in stock including sapphire crystals. And can get hard to find crystals or even custom cut a crystal if needed.
